BREAKING: D’banj Voted ‘Best African Act’ For The 2012 MTV EMA
Dapo Oyebanji aka D’banj has emerged as the ‘Best African Act’ for the MTV Europe Music Awards 2012. He claimed the coveted award after receiving the highest number of votes from fans across the Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Nigerian superstar warded off challenge from four other African nominees – Camp Mulla from Kenya, Sarkodie form Ghana and South Africa’s Mi Casa as well as Nigerian counterpart Wizkid to emerge victorious.
He has previously won Best African Act at the 2007 MTV EMA, ‘Artist of the Year’ at both the 2008 and 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards, and ‘Best International Act: Africa’ at the 2011 BET Awards which he shared with 2face.
He will now go on to contend with other music artistes India’s Alobo Naga & the Band and Ahmed Soultan from the Middle East for the chance to represent the region in the Worldwide Act category.
The 19th edition of the awards which will be hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum will take place in Frankfurt on November 11, 2012.
We say props up for the Koko Master for doing Nigeria and indeed Africa proud and hopes he come back with the Worldwide act Award..
